Savina's Pledge to the Royal Family

For the fifth consecutive year, on the occasion of the anniversary of the Duke of Edinburgh’s visit to the Magro Brothers’ factory at Xewkija, Gozo, the Magro family has kept to their pledge of presenting HRH Prince Philip with new products from their Savina range of delicacies.

This year, John Magro and his son, Christian, were invited to present their gift to the Duke of Edinburgh at a private audience in Buckingham Palace, London.

This memorable occasion took place in the Duke’s Library. HRH Prince Philip showed keen interest to hear about new developments at the Magro factory and about the island of Gozo. Mr Magro briefed the Duke about Farm Fresh Limited, which was recently launched, producing dairy products like ricotta and spreadable cheeses.

This year the SAVINA hamper included the Pekorin™, which is handcrafted cheese from sheep’s milk, typical to the islands of the Mediterranean. This full-flavoured, semi-hard, cheese can be enjoyed young and flavoured with herbs and chilli peppers or ripened and matured for at least 90 days. The Duke hinted that he was looking forward to tasting these cheese delicacies.

Prince Philip thanked the Magro family for remembering them every year and for the delightful gifts. The Savina products presented to HRH the Duke of Edinburgh may be viewed and purchased from Savina Creations Limited, www.savina.com.mt
