Grissini is the Italian word for the iconic crispy breadsticks which date back to around 1670, where allegedly these were invented by a baker called Antonio Brunero, from Turin. It was a food that was meant to be easier to digest for Duke Victor Amadeus II of Savoy, who had digestive problems in his childhood.
Piaceri Italiani’s grissini are all handmade, after a lengthy, natural, fermentation process, and are made with extra virgin olive oil for a definite taste and delicate crisp.
Grissini are delicious with slices of parma ham or dipped in an olive paté on a cheese platter. Besides the original flavour enhanced with sea salt, other varieties include olives and rosemary.
